Ghosts On Drugs: The Podcast

From Hy:

We've purchased all the stories for the Ghosts On Drugs® book anthology (30 gems, totaling 126,000 words). We're putting some final touches on the interstitials (the bits between the stories) and will then pursue paths for publishing it.

Meanwhile, I want to give you a sense of how cool it is.

So inspired by such classic genre storytelling radio shows such as X Minus One, we've created this Ghosts On Drugs® podcast. It's a slow-but-steady ongoing series, so please come by every six months or so to check for new episodes.

Caution: These are modern cross-genre stories, and they contain adult language, violence, and adult situations. If you're easily offended, these probably aren't for you. But if you enjoy being offended, you've come to the right place.

We currently have three wonderful stories to share with you: A Libation for Hestia, Survivors, and The Yank.

A Libation for Hestia by Jon Etter is a beautiful tale about ghosts of the past, the ghost-like lives of the homeless, and the power of love and gods. It's performed by PJ Sosko (who is stellar as both the first-person narrator and main character, a hammer-wielding John Henry), Grace Rex (as The Kid), Caroline Cotter (as the cop), and Dana Watkins (as all the other characters, demonstrating Dana's brilliant range). Please listen by clicking here.

Survivors by Patrick Hurley is a raucously violent, smart, and hilarious science fiction/horror tale about a reality TV series in the year 2037 in which contestants kill zombies—including an especially dangerous breed called silent stalkers, or ghosts—to win fame and fortune. But if they fail, they die. And even before our story begins, almost everyone on the show has already failed... It's performed by Caroline Cotter (as star contestant Sadie Day), PJ Sosko (as her producer Barry Maldover), Dana Watkins (as the narrator, the TV announcer, and other characters), and Grace Rex (as Network VP Nikki Streetwater). Please listen by clicking here.

The Yank by Rob E. Boley is a jaw-dropping comedic exorcism involving iPhones, Prada, and the best sex ever...and is so fresh and original that it threatens to pioneer a new sub-genre. It's performed by Grace Rex (as the narrator, "the demon," and Ashley), Caroline Cotter (as the exorcist), and Dana Watkins (as the possessed victim). Please listen by clicking here.

And these are our extraordinary performers, who are some of the finest actors in NYC:

PJ Sosko and Dana Watkins

PJ Sosko and Dana Watkins

PJ Sosko is a mesmerizing actor who The New York Times has called "great," "terrific," "slyly humorous," and "astonishing," with "compelling intensity;" who Variety has called "riveting;" and who Backstage observed provides "flavorsome and immaculately rendered performances." PJ's scores of screen credits include NBC's The Blacklist and Law & Order, CBS' Elementary, Person of Interest, The Good Wife, and Unforgettable, ABC's Time After Time, Cinemax's The Knick, USA's Royal Pains, Starz's Gravity, and such films as The Two Worlds of William March and the upcoming Tick Tock Sizzle. In addition, PJ performs characters for video games, including Grand Theft Auto IV, Max Payne 3, Manhunt, Homefront, and Red Dead Redemption.

Dana Watkins is an exceptionally versatile and razor-sharp actor who's been a one-man army for our podcast, performing numerous and wide-ranging characters every episode. Among his credits are the films How to be a Man, Unbridled, and the upcoming Tick Tock Sizzle and The Stuff. He's also performed in numerous NYC theatre productions, most recently including acclaimed play The Chekhov Dreams.

Grace Rex and Caroline Cotter

Grace Rex and Caroline Cotter

Grace Rex is aptly named, as her stellar acting typically displays breathtaking sensitivity and graceful wit. Grace has relatively small roles in this podcast's "A Libation for Hestia" and "Survivors," yet memorably steals every scene she's in with her surprising choices and heartfelt, soulful performances; and she shows off a Gracie Allen-like playfulness while starring in "The Yank." Among Grace's TV credits are NBC's Blindspot and ER, CBS' The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and Elementary, Showtime's Boardwalk Empire, Netflix's Mindhunter, Master of None, and The Break with Michelle Wolf, and UK Channel 4's High & Dry. Grace has also performed in such films as What Children Do (as its star), Irreplaceable You, Freelancers Anonymous, The Dilemma, and Women Who Kill. To my eye Grace is show biz royalty, and it's only a matter of time before she achieves the A-list stardom her extraordinary talent demands.

Caroline Cotter is one of the top performers in NYC live comedy, starring every Saturday night at 9:00 pm in one of the most respected improv groups in the country, the Upright Citizen Brigade's Goat at UCBT-Hell's Kitchen. Caroline has also performed in TV comedy sketches for NBC's Late Night With Seth Meyers, MTV, Lifetime, and CMT, for comedy sites Funny or Die and Above Average, and in such great UCBT sketch shows as Dorothy Goes to Hollywood.

The next audio story to be posted will be The Yank by Rob E. Boley, a hilarious comedy about exorcism, boundary-pushing, and Prada. It stars Grace Rex, Caroline Cotter, and Dana Watkins. Please look for it in September.

Meanwhile, heartfelt thanks for all your enthusiasm and support. We truly appreciate it.
